About
I’m Grace Dobush, a writer and magazine editor based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ticket to Read
I used to read all the time.
When I was a kid—before the Internet—I practically lived at my local library. I could have a stack of books sitting on my nightstand, and I’d still come back with an armload of novels and magazines.
Now, a full-time magazine editor and a freelance writer, I am always walking around with a newspaper or magazine or, sometimes, a few of both. But a Los Angeles Times column by Meghan Daum made me realize that you can read constantly and still be ill-read.
So this here blog isn’t about trying to sell myself as a book reviewer. I don’t have that kind of background knowledge. I simply want to get myself to get into the habit of reading books again and expose myself to more styles and genres in hopes of improving my own writing. My to-read list is extensive, and it covers everything from chick lit to nerdy nonfiction to classics I should have read a decade ago.
I aim to finish a book a week. I’ve got a ticket to read, and so should you.
Ticket to Write
I started this blog to track my reading, but now I also track my writing. My first book, “Crafty Superstar: Turn Your Crafts into Extra Cash, Keep Your Day Job, and Basically Have It All,” will be released in November 2009 by North Light Books.
