2008 stats

January 3, 2009

I liked the stats I did last year, so hear’s the final tally for 2008:

Total pages read: 11,127
Average pages per book: 218
Longest book: 472 pages
Biggest reading month: July, with 12 books
Slowest reading months: September and October, 1 book each

Having the goal of reading 50 books a year has really worked for me, so I’m going to keep it for 2009. Cheers!

This is from 2003 so the numbers are probably worse now, but to give you an idea of where you are compared to the rest of the country:

1/3 of high school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives.
42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.
80 percent of U.S. families did not buy or read a book last year.
70 percent of U.S. adults have not been in a bookstore in the last five years.

You’re doing pretty daggone good !
